Time seems to speed up in Shari Herout’s kindergarten classroom at Foxboro Elementary School in Vacaville.
In less than an hour Tuesday, she urged her 25 students, clustered five or six at each low-standing blue table, to continue to try to write their last names, add numbers 0 to 10, read a series of one-syllable words, use their bodies to mimic punctuation marks, count by five and 10 up to 100, listen to a story, “Tattlin’ Madeline,” and review good behavior standards as explained in the story.
