A Vallejo High School graduate said Monday he is organizing a protest against the school board’s recent decision to change the school’s Apache mascot.

Saying he thinks the word “mascot” may be the only thing derogatory about the high school’s longtime Apache “symbol,” protest organizer Harry Diavatis said student and alumni feelings on the matter were ignored before board members voted for the change.
