At its recent meeting, the Solano Community College Board of Trustees voted to eliminate the football and aquatics programs at the college. Summer school has also been canceled, as well as several regular classes. Why is this community college now in the position where it can no longer serve the community?

Benicia Herald: BUSD school leaders heard in Capitol

Funding for Benicia Unified School District’s planned transitional kindergarten classes was saved Tuesday when an Assembly subcommittee rejected Gov. Jerry Brown’s proposal to trim it from the state budget.

However, other changes proposed by the governor could cut $2.6 million from the local school district’s budget, said Dana Dean, a member of the BUSD Board of Trustees.

Vallejo Times Herald: Benicia school trustees rescind vote reassigning unknown administrator

The Benicia school board rescinded Thursday night its two-week-old decision to reassign an unknown administrator.

However, “the board acknowledges that the superintendent has the authority … to notify an administrator of possible reassignment at the end of the year,” said Michael Gardner, assistant superintendent of human relations who made the announcement once the board emerged from a lengthy closed session.
