Daily Republic: Curtain could fall on Solano College Theater Association

ROCKVILLE — The fate of the Solano College Theater Association rests Wednesday with the Solano Community College governing board.

The board is scheduled to vote to eliminate the college’s $750,000-a-year in funding to the nonprofit theater association. College officials have said the college can no longer afford what they call a “subsidy.” Without the funding, the future of the theater association is in jeopardy, association members have said.

The state cut $1.2 million from the district in February and the college is expecting a $4.8 million deficit for next year. Solano Community College has already cut all summer school classes and its football program to help close the deficit.
