SUISUN CITY — Kids will be kids — so when Rusty, the red-tailed hawk, pooped on the floor, there was muffled laughter that echoed through the cafeteria at Dan O Root Elementary School.
Beyond the laughter, the visiting animals from the Suisun Wildlife Center rewarded a job well done by the entire student body.
A job consistently well done.
Each year for about the last 15 years, Dan O. Root students raised money for the wildlife center. And each year that figure has risen, despite an economic downturn and the loss of the sixth-grade students a couple of years ago when they were moved to middle school.
