The Reporter: Panel mulls fate of Gomer School in rural Fairfield

A Solano County Board of Education advisory committee will meet Monday and July 23 to air suggestions about what to do with the historic Gomer School in rural Fairfield.

The disposition of the school, a dark red, one-room schoolhouse founded in 1900 on Abernathy Road, is the focus of the board’s newly appointed 7-11 Advisory Committee, which gets its numerical designation because state law requires at least seven but no more than 11 members to field community input about what to do with a school district’s excess property.

Both public meetings will begin at 5 p.m. in the Solano County Office of Education boardroom, 5100 Business Center Drive, second floor, in Fairfield.
