About a dozen mothers, and a father, sat side by side at school tables Tuesday night, taking turns reading lines from a Spanish-English children’s book.
The parents were attending a Latino Family Literacy Project class. It’s a part of the Parent University offered by the Vallejo City Unified School District and Fighting Back Partnership.
In this program, parents are taught to use the book as a literacy tool for their children, Elsa Widenmann Elementary School Principal Pamela Hatter said.
