The search for the next top administrator of the Vacaville Unified School District gets under way this week and, fittingly, it starts here in Vacaville.

On Tuesday, representatives of the firm hired to search for a new superintendent will be in town to ascertain the community’s “wish list” for its next school leader. They also will be studying the district so they can paint an accurate portrait of it for potential candidates.

Both sets of information are crucial to matching the right person for the job. As Leadership Associates partner Jim Brown told the school board when it was choosing a search firm: There are “a lot of good candidates out there; not all will be a fit for Vacaville.”
