The Reporter: Solano County school district officials react to Governor Jerry Brown’s budget proposal

Vacaville-area school district business leaders, relieved that the era of harsh trigger cuts appears to be over, say Gov. Jerry Brown’s preliminary 2013-14 budget means more money for schools — welcome news — but they are uncertain just how the extra cash will manifest itself at the local level.

On Tuesday, Kari Sousa, chief business official for the Vacaville Unified School District, hailed Brown’s proposal to set aside

$2.7 billion more for elementary and secondary education and community colleges, a plan, announced last week, that will also overhaul California school financing.
