Amid complaints that they didn’t have a choice, school board members across Solano County recently approved moving their off-year board elections to even years.
Trustees are wrong. They did have a choice. It was a Hobson’s choice, so-named for the livery stable owner in Medieval England who was said to have offered his customers “the choice of either taking the horse in the stall nearest the door or taking none at all.”
