Vallejo Times-Herald: Davis touts summer jobs program for Vallejo youth

By Rachel Raskin-Zrihen Times-Herald staff writer

The idea, school and business officials say, is to some day be able to offer paid, on-the-job training to hundreds of Vallejo youths each summer that not only keeps them busy, but ties in with what they’re learning at school.

Promoted at a recent Chamber of Commerce event by Mayor Osby Davis, the city’s summer youth job program hopefully will become more than just a way to keep teenagers constructively busy while school’s out, Vallejo City Unified School District spokeswoman Alana Shackelford said.
