Chances are if you go to hear Lowell Fisher play his harmonica you’ll come away with lot more than a collection of rousing tunes.
The teacher in him — more than 30 years at Solano Middle School — can’t help but tell stories and encourage a bit of learning along with the enjoyment, toe-tapping and urges to sing along.
His listeners hear about the Titanic’s engineering feats before he plays “Nearer, My God, to Thee,” the last song the orchestra played before the ship’s fatal collision with an iceberg. “The Titanic,” Fisher said “is, essentially, the largest piece of metal ever.”
