Budget proposal would raise per-pupil spending for schools – The Reporter

Local educators are hailing Gov. Jerry Brown’s newly proposed K-12 education budget — a 9 percent increase over the current year and money to eliminate all deferral payments — as the best news in many years, but it comes with some still-lingering uncertainties about the Local Control Funding Formula and the Legislature’s push for universal preschool.

Those concerns may be dispelled and a clearer idea of how the governor’s budget will affect Solano County school districts may be more fully understood Friday when area educators travel to Sacramento for a conference sponsored by School Services of California, an advocacy resource for the state’s 1,000-plus school districts.
