With an hour left to go, about 500 people had attended Monday’s job fair at the Fairfield-Suisun School District office.

“This has been a great thing,” Robert Martinez, assistant superintendent of human resources for the school district, said of the event that began at 8 a.m.

Martinez said the school district hired eight teachers Monday at the fair that was also held for support staff including cafeteria workers and bus drivers.

“We want to help them start their careers in education,” he said.
