Walk or Roll to School Day brings smiles – Daily Republic

By Susan Hiland

Children strolled into the Crescent Elementary School campus like it was just another day Wednesday – but some realized it was special because they got a ticket, one that allowed them to get a gift for just doing what they do every morning – walking or rolling to school.

Mariah McCrary, a first-grader from Suisun City, brought her ticket to the Solano Transportation Authority booth in front of the school and received her black-and-green backpack filled with a cookbook, exercise book, pencil and eraser for International Walk or Roll to School Day.

“We walk every day,” said Jouneee McCrary, Mariah’s mother. “It takes about 45 minutes each day, so it is pretty far.”
