One side believes it’s akin to squeezing blood out of a turnip.
Not so, said the other side.
Solano Community College District is at a legal impasse with the Solano College Faculty Association, throwing upcoming negotiations to a mediator who will be tasked with helping both sides come to an agreement. Much of the discord is over salary – the district said it doesn’t have a dime to spare as it’s running a deficit budget but the faculty association isn’t quite buying the empty coffers story.
“The money sort of appears when a pet project comes up,” said Jim DeKloe, president of the faculty association, on Friday.
