Roof problems force several Dixon USD offices to relocate to Dixon High School

J.D. Salinger’s “Raise High the Roofbeam, Carpenters” is not necessarily required reading in Dixon Unified, but the title — or some of its words, at least — may echo around the school district in the coming weeks and months.

Citing broken roof trusses and the advice of engineers, district officials relocated some of their offices from their South First Street site to new spaces at Dixon High School, at 555 College Way.

On Thursday, the relocations of offices for the superintendent, human resources and education services were largely complete, said Superintendent Brian Dolan.

Special education services have relocated to the district’s Silveyville Primary School campus near Westside Park, but the business and technology departments, housed in offices not subject to imminent roof collapse, said Dolan, will remain at the South First Street site, near the main intersection of downtown Dixon.
