Benicia school board to introduce new superintendent – Times Herald

By Irma Widjojo

Benicia’s newest school superintendent will be formally introduced Wednesday night during a special school board meeting.

Charles Young has been named as the Benicia Unified School District superintendent after a search that began in March. Young will be replacing Janice Adams, who has led the district for the past eight years, and is retiring at the end of the school year.

At the meeting, the school board is set to approve Young’s contract, which expires on July 1, 2018, unless extended.

Young’s annual salary, if approved, is $195,000, not including benefits.

Young has been the associate superintendent of educational services for the Palo Alto Unified School District for the past four years.

Young started his career as an English teacher before moving into the administrative roles of vice principal, and eventually principal.
