Travel to Boston and Washington, D.C. for national education conferences estimated to cost $2,000 per person was tabled Wednesday by Fairfield-Suisun School District trustees after a taxpayers representative asked that conference information be accessed without travel and hotel expenses – and a trustee said the school district should focus on California.
“That money ought to be going into the classrooms,” said John Takeuchi, president of the Central Solano Citizen-Taxpayer Group.
He said the school district should explore transcripts, video and webinars as a way to get information presented at conferences.
