With an extra bounce in their step, Maine Prairie High School’s Class of 2016 traversed Dixon High School’s theater Wednesday night for their crowning achievement to date — graduation.
Whooping and cheering, waves of maroon flowed through the facility as the graduates-to-be claimed their seats.
Behind them, tearful yet joyful families whistled and hollered, towers of balloons swayed and the sweet scent of florals beckoned.
“I’m excited, ready to get out of here,” emphasized Katerina Lay just minutes before her entrance to the theater. School was routine, it seemed, while the future held her dreams.
