Jalonnie Abesamis beamed as he accepted hugs and congratulations from family members moments after picking up his diploma during Travis Education Center graduation ceremonies Friday afternoon.
Standing outside the Vacaville Performing Arts Theatre in 103-degree heat, the tall young man, clad in a shiny Dodger blue gown and cap, posed with his sister, Aniza, for a memento photo taken on a smartphone.
“I feel good,” said Abesamis, who plans to attend Solano Community College in the fall and “study the basics.” “I’m happy to be done with school.”
Post-ceremony plans included a celebration, naturally, with family and friends.
