For the past six years, the Sac-Joaquin Section has awarded three different schools with the Dick Nelson Community Service Award, which recognizes teams that have made an impact on their community.

The award is given to a certain team during the fall, winter and spring seasons.

The Vacaville Christian High boys basketball team was selected to receive the award for the winter season, while the Bethel High football team was given the award for the fall season. Those schools honored with the selection receive not only a banner from the section, but also $500.
