Students, teachers and staff from both Scandia and Travis elementary schools at Travis Air Force Base walked to honor the victims and survivors of the 9/11 terrorist attacks Monday, marking the 16th year since the tragic events in New York, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania. Walking about a mile to the base’s Airman and Family Readiness Center, they heard about the history of the American Flag, listened to classmates sign patriotic songs and poems and waved flags to honor the heroes.
