Vallejo Times Herald: Mare Island Technology Academy computers stolen from club

Whoever broke into the Continentals of Omega Boys & Girls Club overnight Wednesday made off with some $20,000 worth of equipment and untold hours of students’ work, the school’s director said Friday. The Mare Island Technology (MIT) Academy, which is next door to the club, shares space and material with it, school director Matt Smith said. The stolen computers and related equipment had recently been installed by MIT, replacing older club equipment, Smith and club executive director Wendy Jones said.

“It’s very frustrating and unconscionable that someone would steal from these kids who have worked so hard,” Smith said. “It feels like someone pulled the rug out from under them.”
