The Reporter: Vacaville police: Suicidal man prompts lockdown at two schools

By Catherine Bowen/The Reporter, Vacaville

Two Vacaville schools were placed on lockdown Friday while police were engaged in a standoff nearby with a man said to have made suicidal threats.

Officers responded to a home in the 1300 block of Shasta Drive around 9:10 a.m., moments after medical staff at Kaiser Permanente received a phone call from the distressed 58-year-old male, said Vacaville police Sgt. Charlie Spruill.

Both Fairmont Elementary School and Will C. Wood High School were temporarily placed on lockdown for safety purposes, requiring students’ parents or guardians to come to the campus before they were allowed to leave.
