As many California school leaders did this week, complying with state law, Dixon Unified’s governing board on Thursday approved a $26 million budget for the coming academic year, which begins Aug. 14.

The financial document that will guide the 3,400-student district in 2013-14 will have $1.8 million in deficit spending and an ending balance of slightly more than $3 million.

By law, Cecile Nunley, the district’s chief business officer, must send the budget to the County Office of Education by Sunday.
