Vallejo school board expected to name two parent members to taskforce – Times Herald

By John Glidden

In its first meeting of 2016, the Vallejo school board will be asked to appoint two parent members to the newly created City-Schools Taskforce.

Channa Booker, Debbie Rose Fields, and Debora Castaneda are all seeking to serve on the 10-person taskforce, which was formed recently to discuss community issues impacting schools, and school issues impacting the community.

The idea behind the taskforce increased last year after several violent incidents occurred at Vallejo’s schools, including the May 2015 shooting death of Jesse Bethel High School student Max Rusk.

Rusk was shot along a path near Jesse Bethel, during school hours.
