Solano County Supervisor Mitch Mashburn on Tuesday painted a gridiron picture of the Vanden High football team’s final drive to the 2021 Division 3-AA state championship.

Those final minutes, however, represented what was later described as the “resilience, perseverance, preparation and grit” of a team that overcame adversaries throughout the season – and even prior to the first practice.

The team lost two coaches and a teammate before the fall season even started.
