Students from local schools went on a field trip Friday to help assess the health of local creeks.

Fairfield High School Biology and Environmental Science teacher Heather Handa was eager for her students to get a hands-on experience in nature. She watched as they carefully made their way into the creek bed, she cheered as they reached the bottom.

“I want them to enjoy being outside and connect with living things,” she said.
