If the Martian rovers Spirit, Opportunity and Curiosity are any indication, then all great robots deserve a name.
Well, here’s another entry into that hallowed pantheon of human achievement: Charles.
That’s what the Vallejo High School robotics team calls (more or less) its latest creation, a cat-sized exploratory machine developed for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
“We said we can build it for them. Give us a timeline and a budget, and we can build it,” said Stephanie Bond, a 17-year-old senior in her final year with the robotics team.
